Rain saved England from an upset by Ireland!

How England fared in world cup T20 2010

Just when the Irish team was all set to cause a major upset of the tournament by defeating England, rain popped in and save the Englishmen from a nightmare defeat. Unexpectedly and somehow a little certainty in the subconscious about Irish team that they might cause an upset, things went fairly well in favor of Irish team. Ireland won the toss and chose to field which turned out to be very ghastly for England as they collapsed at the total of 120 runs only. The English batting line up completely failed against the astounding bowling of Irish team. It was expected that win might favor the Irish team but then the rain shower completely changed the scenario. As the rain never stopped, so English team was awarded the win and a smooth through to the Super Eights based on their run rate.
It was a frustrating decision for Irish team as they were all set to make a mark in the cricket world. Now few matches are left and Super Eights would be all happening in few days.
Get all geared up again as there is going to be a tough and heated fight between the leading cricket teams!

A win for West Indies on home ground finally!

Thrilling victory by West Indies in Caribbean

After a long time, West Indies finally cheered up its crowd by claiming a victory on home ground in World 20Twenty 2010. But it wasn’t a convincing win as Irish team gave West Indies a tough time. West Indies won the toss and chose to bat. The pitch being slow made it difficult for West Indies batsmen Chanderpaul and Fletcher to go with a flow as the pitch was supporting the Irish bowlers. Both the openers made 9 runs rather slowly and then Chanderpaul smashed back to back boundaries to increase the runs. Just when we was playing well, the Irish bowler Boyed made an intelligent use of the slower pitch and knocked out Chanderpaul at the score of 14. After him, Bravo took the charge of crease but could not contribute a significant number into total. After him, the only steady score of 34 runs was made by Ramnaresh in partnership with Fletcher. But Irish bowlers kept hitting back and restricted West Indies to only 138 runs.
It was not a very grand total to defend while a team is playing with Ireland. But, West Indies with their powerful bowling gave a very few chances to Ireland to make another problem. The fast bowlers of West Indies attacked the Irish side completely. Irish batting line struggled by making the worst start in losing the early wickets. Above it, the rain shower forced the players to leave the ground and delayed the play for like 30 minutes. But even then, nothing came about as a luck in Irish team way and they all collapsed at the score of 68. Both Rampaul and Sammy took 3 wickets and played the major role in giving West Indies a win on home ground.
Although West Indies won the match but their batting line turned out to be really weak, which could hinder their progress in Super Eights. Let’s see how West Indies make their come back with more powerful shots!

Pakistan trodden Ireland to move into Semi Final

saeed-ajmal‘Wow! Pakistan has made it to the semis’, ‘I knew it they will.’ These are the remarks, which are being heard from every Pakistani whether back home or anywhere in the world after an easy win by Pakistan over Ireland to move in the semis of T20 World Cup 2009. Kamran Akmal and Saeed Ajmal did the work for Pakistan by their corresponding performances with bat and ball. Kamran Akmal scored magnificent 57 runs in 51 balls, which enabled Pakistan to reach 159 runs on 5 wickets down. The only alarming concern is Pakistani batting side they are still unable to post significant partnerships and same happened in this match as well where none clicked except Kamran Akmal.

A sum of 159 runs was quite an achievable target for Ireland, the awe-inspiring bowling by Saeed Ajmal restricted Ireland team to stay at 120 runs. He took four wickets in just 19 balls and stands on the second slot amongst the top wicket takers in the tournament; Umer Gul is topping the chart by 12 wickets across the board.

Muhammad Aamir took the early wicket of danger man Niall O’Brien while Umer Gul clutched wickets of DT Johnston and AR White. Irish Opener Porterfield was the only top scorer who posted 40 runs on the scoreboard.
