World Cup Cricket is the most prestigious and important event in the sport of Cricket. Every team plays its heart out to win the cup. Though every fielder is important in the team, no one can deny the importance of wicket keeper. To stump out a batsman in a World Cup match is always a treat for a wicketkeeper as he is the sole member of the team who does it for his country. A wicketkeeper’s expertise and excellent reflexes to any ball coming towards his gloves enables him to go for stumping if he sees a batsman out of the batting crease. Cricket World Cup has seen very less stumpings, however; the award for most stumps in cricket World Cup goes to India’s Kiran More who has stumped out 2 batsmen in a single inning. Although Kenyan wicketkeeper KO Otieno has done it twice as well, but he did it in two innings. Following is the list of wicketkeepers with most stumps in world cup tournaments.

Hat-tricks done by Bowlers in Test Cricket
Hat tricks in a test match play a key role in turning the face of the game. Since its inception, the history of test cricket has witnessed 38 hat tricks to date. The first ever hat trick in the test cricket was made by Fred Spofforth of Australia who dismissed three batsmen of the English team at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Australia on January 2, 1879. Furthermore, Aussies leg spinner Jimmy Mathews made two hat-tricks in a test match against South Africa at Old Trafford, Manchester in 1912.
In addition to Mathew’s two hat tricks in a test match, Australia’s off spinner Hugh Trumble recorded his first hat trick against England in 1902 whereas, he made his second hat trick again against England in 1904. The interesting fact about these hat tricks is that both are made against the same team and on the same ground i.e. MCG, Melbourne.
Last but not the least Pakistan’s Wasim Akram recorded his two hat tricks against Srilanka in 1st and 2nd test match respectively at Gaddafi Stadium in 1999. It’s worthwhile to note that he is the only cricketer who has made hat trick as a Test Captain.
Hat-tricks done by Bowlers in ODI Cricket
Viewing the hat tricks made in One day internationals, 26 hat tricks have been recorded up till now. The first ever hat-trick was made by Pakistani bowler Jalaluddin, who dismissed three Australian players in a row in an ODI played at Hyderabad, Pakistan on September 20, 1982. The latest hat trick was done by Bangladeshi bowler Abdur Razzak in an ODI between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe played at Dhaka, Bangladesh on December 3, 2010.
Srilanka’s Chaminda Vaas and Pakistan’s Waseem Akram and Saqlain Mushtaq have made two hat tricks each. Chaminda Vaas did it twice, first against Zimbabwe in 2001 at Colombo and second time he made hat trick against Bangladesh in 2003 at Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. Saqlain Mushtaq made his two hat tricks against Zimbabwe, first in 1996 at Peshawar and second in 1999 at the Oval.
Waseem Akram is the only bowler in cricket history who holds the record of two hat tricks in ODIs and two hat tricks in Test Cricket.
Hat-tricks done by Bowlers in T20 Cricket
Likewise Test Cricket and One day Internationals (ODIs), T20 game of cricket has seen three hat tricks to date. First ever hat trick in T29 cricket is made by Australian Fast Bowler Brett Lee who dismissed Bangladesh batsmen Shakib Al Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza and Alok Kapali in three consecutive deliveries at Cape Town, South Africa during a 2007-2008 season.
Second Hat-trick was made during 2009 cricket season at Colombo, Srilanka where New Zealand’s JP Oram playing against Srilanka on their home ground, took three wickets in a row. He preyed Srilankan batsmen viz. AD Mathews, CM Bandara and KMDN Kulasekara in a great fashion.
Third time history was written at Auckland, New Zealand in the recent 2010/2011 Pakistan New Zealand Series where Tim Southee claimed a hat trick against Pakistan by dismissing Younis Khan, Mohammad Hafeez and Umar Akmal. He not only made a hat-trick but also became the first Kiwi bowler to become the five wicket taker in T20 Internationals.
Hat-tricks in ICC Cricket World Cups
A hat-trick in cricket transpires when three batsmen get out on three consecutive deliveries in the same match by an individual bowler. These deliveries may be intermittent by another bowler’s over who bowls from the opposite end of the wicket. Hence, three wickets taken in a row without given any run by a bowler is a hat-trick.
Looking at the ICC World Cup history there are only four bowlers who have made hat-tricks. The list of these bowlers is as follows
1) 1987 ICC Cricket World Cup: Indian Bowler Chetan Sharma made a hat-trick playing against New Zealand on Oct 13, 1987 at Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground, Nagpur, India.
2) 1999 ICC Cricket World Cup: Pakistani spinner Saqlain Mushtaq made a hat-trick against Zimbabwe on June 11, 1999 at The Oval, London
3) 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup: Srilankan Fast bowler Chaminda Vaas bowled out three batsmen in a row playing against Bangladesh on February 14, 2003 at Pietermaritzburg Oval, South Africa
4) 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup : Australian Speed Gun Brett Lee dismissed three batsmen on consecutive balls bowling against Kenya on March 15, 2003 at Kingsmead, Durban, South Africa
