The Bengalis were given permission to play test cricket in 2000 and happen to be the last one as yet to get test status. They made their debut in the same year against Indian cricket team in Dhaka. The Australians have been playing test cricket since 1877, when they made their debut against the English. The two teams (Bangladesh and Australia) came across each other for the first time in 2003 at the Marrara cricket ground Darwin.

The Australian cricket team and the Bangladeshi cricket team stepped into the ODI against each other for the first time on the fields of Sharjah on 30th April 1990.

  • The Bangladesh cricket team was being captained by Gazi Ashraf and the Australian cricket team was being captained by AR Border in the first ever ODI between the two teams.
  • RG Gupta and Khizar Hayat were the two umpires of the first ODI match played between the Bengali tigers and the Aussies.
  • On the fields of Sharjah, The Bengali tigers encountered the Australian cricket team for the first time in the One Day International.
  • AC Gilchrist, MEK Hussey, MJ Clarke, GB Hogg and MG Johnsons have been the key eminent players in the ODIs against the Bangladesh cricket players.
  • Musharaffe Murtaza, Abdur Razzaq, Habibul Bashar and Shariar Nafees have been seen to perform very well against the Aussies in the ODI tournaments.
  • Australia won the first ODI played against Bangladesh in 1990 by seven wickets.

Cricket Team Records: Australia vs Bangladesh (T20-Twenty Twenty Matches Records)

Australian cricket team started of with the ICC twenty 20 world cup in the year 2007 where as Bangladesh played it’s first twenty 20 match in the year 2006 at Khulna against Zimbabwe beating Zimbabwe cricket team by 43 runs. Australian cricket team and Bangladesh cricket team came face to face for the first time in the twenty 20 world cup in the year 2007 on the grounds of Cape Town where Australia beat Bangladesh cricket team by 9 wickets which was pretty astonishing.
