  • Being in the same group, the West Indian cricket team and Irish cricket team fought against each other in the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup which was also the first world cup for the Irish cricket team.
  • The match was shortened by 2 overs each side as rain played its part again. The Ireland cricket team batted first and managed to put up a small target of just 183 runs against West Indies cricket team as the outfield had gone slow, due to the rain.
  • West Indian cricket squad easily chased the target in just 38.1 overs thanks to Shivnarine Chanderpauls’s spectacular century on the wet out field.
  • The encounter in the upcoming 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup would be their second against each other and West Indies cricket team being more experienced then the Irish cricket team are more likely to win but yet again the probability of success for every team is equal, hence one can’t give a final/accurate judgment.
  • In recent years the performance of West Indian Cricket Team has not been up to the mark. Ireland Cricket team has performed well while playing with other teams which are also not Test status holders. However, West Indies has an experience of knock out stage matches which Ireland still needs to gain.

In 2011 cricket world cup match, West Indies and Ireland performed well. West Indies batting first put a total of 275 on the board. Considering that this world cup was a high scoring tournament, and Ireland has already shown some great performances with the bat, it was expected to finish as a close content. Ireland got all out in the 49th over. West Indies won the match by 44 runs. Despite the fact that West Indies came out winner, the fighting spirit of the Ireland cricket team was appreciated by one and all. Till their last player was on the crease, they tried to stay in competition.
