Pakistani Cricket Talent-Pakistani born Australian Cricket Player: Usman Khawaja
Usman Khawaja a Pakistani born Australian batsman scored his test fifty to aid Australia recuperate in their chase of 310 in the second test against South African cricket team in Johannesburg. Usman Khawaja who made just 12 runs in the first innings was able to give a good stand to Australia in the second inning by scoring 65 runs. He was caught by Jacques Kallis on the bowling of Imran Tahir, yet another cricketer of Pakistani origin.
Usman Tariq Khawaja, 24, was born in Islamabad Pakistan and moved to Australia at a very young age. He is the first Muslim who is playing for Australian cricket team. He is a fine left-handed batsman who got recognition from the Australian under-19 tournaments. Since then he never looked back and his first international appearance was in the 2011 Ashes series in Australia where he played really well and brought himself in rave reviews.
On the other hand, Imran Tahir, 32, a fine bowler who was never given chance to play for Pakistan, finally got a call from South Africa on account of excellent bowling in South African domestic cricket where he continued to clutched loads of wickets in for Dolphins. It was really amazing to see that during the 2nd test between Australia and South Africa, a Pakistani origin Batsman got out on the bowling of a Pakistani origin Bowler. Who says Pakistan does not have talent. It’s the duty of PCB to explore such jewels rather allowing them to play against their own country.
Usman Khawaja has played a handful of matches for Australia and he has delivered some good results. One wonders about the bowling talent Pakistan has. Not only they have a formidable bowling squad in their national side, many international teams at the moment have bowlers of Pakistani origin playing for them. Imran Tahir and Usman Khwaja are two names to remember.
