Angelo Davis Mathews or AD Mathews is one of the best all rounders in the Sri Lankan cricket team today. He played his first international match from Sri lanka against Zimbabwe in 2008. In the past couple of years, Mathews has been the best discovery for the Sri lankan cricket team. Mathews was an important part of the Sri lankan World cup 2011 squad.

AD Mathews is right arm fast medium paced bowler. He is a right handed batsman. As of now, Mathews has played 138 ODI matches and has taken 27 wickets at an average of just above 30. He has been a valuable asset for the team as he has scored 3352 runs at an average of 40.87 runs per innings. His highest ODI score is 139 runs so far. He has scored 24 fifties and one century in the ODI format.

As of Mathews performance in test cricket, he has played 44 test matches so far and has scored 3054 runs at an average of 52.65. He has scored 18 fifties and 4 hundreds in test cricket format so far. His highest test score is 160 runs. Due to his performance over the past couple of years, Mathews has been made captain of both ODI and test cricket team of Sri Lanka. He became the youngest Sri Lankan captain of test format at the age of 25

Angelo Mathews dreams to become one of the best all rounders of the world however he is preferably focused on his batting at the moment. Although he can bowl well but he is trying to maintain focus on one cricketing talent to avoid injuries. His strike rate of 80 plus is something very useful especially in the last ten overs of the game. He plays at number 6 and has been successful in creating magical wins for Sri Lankan cricket team. He was part of Sri Lankan team in finals in 2011 ICC World Cup and 2014 International Twenty20 Championship. He is a cool headed and intelligent fielder as well.
