Maximum Sixes Record in Test Cricket
“He has smashed the ball outside stadium, what a great shot, it’s another six”, the commentator screams after seeing the ball gone out of the stadium. The whole stadium is jubilated and dancing and jumping on their seats. The batsman has hit two consecutive sixes for his team. This is what we usually watch on a regular test match, ODI or now even on T20s. Scoring runs in sixes are always a pleasure to watch and Adam Gilchrist has done it for Australia. Adam Gilchrist has scored 100 sixes up till now. He scored his 100th six in test cricket at Bellerive Oval in Tasmania. He still holds this record as none of the player has equalled this record to date. Next to follow is the West Indies batting star Brian Lara who has scored 88 sixes in his overall career.

Indian striker Saurav Ganguly stands third on the maximum hitters of sixes list. Fourth and Fifth position in the discussed life is held by Indian Star batsman, Sachin Tendulker (185 sixes) and West Indies’ Chris Gayle (165 sixes).
How to play an in-swinger?
by MairaS on December 18, 2010
in Types of balls
To play a good swinging ball especially the in-swinger is always tough for even world class batsmen like Brian Lara and Sachin Tendulker. The class of an in swinger has always created problems for a batsman to judge it properly. The most important point to play an in swinger is to timely judge it. Though it seems impossible, but with a little concentration. Here comes the difference between a good player and an average player as a good player has the ability to go after an in swinger in a better way where an average player becomes prey of it and get out. Secondly as an in swinger is targeted to be pitched high, the batsman should play it forward and try to be close to its pitch as much as possible. By this, the deviation of the ball will be reduced after pitching and the batsman can hit the shot comparatively easy. Finally, try to play the delivery with soft hands.
In swingers are a deadly weapon for the pace attackers. Usually a batsman who has good grip on how to play an in-swinger survives pace attack. A lot of key bowlers from Pakistan, West Indies and Australia have mastered the art of bowling an in-swinger.

The Cricketing Greats of Indo-Pak: Tendulkar & Anwar

Tendulkar vs. Anwar- cricket giants
Sachin Tendulkar
Sachin Tendulkar is perhaps the greatest batsman in the world of cricket. He has the record of breaking and making new records. Tendulkar holds the record of scoring the highest number of runs in test matches; a record previously held by the West Indian great Brian Lara. He has scored the most centuries in both Test matches and ODI; another record. His double century in ODI is perhaps the milestone of his career. No one has ever scored a double century in the limited over game. Previously only Pakistan’s Saeed Anwar and Zimbabwe’s Charles Coventry came close with 194 runs..
Tendulkar plays effortlessly all around the wicket and faces the most daunting bowlers with ease. He has got runs not only in India but in every part of the world where cricket is played. He quickly adjusts to the conditions of the wicket and this ability has won him his records.
Tendulkar started his career 20 years ago and still looks strong. Let’s see how many more big knocks the little mater will play before he retires.
Saeed Anwar
Saeed Anwar is the best opener Pakistan has ever produced. The stylish left arm player holds one of the best records of the cricketing world. His technique was simple but lethal, and he has played many matches winning innings for Pakistan. With his impeccable timing and wrist work, he was able to score all over the field. He made history when by scoring 194 runs in an ODI against India in Chennai in 1997. His record was equaled by Zimbabwe batsman Coventry in 2009 and broken by the cricket giant Sachin Tendulkar in 2010. Saeed Anwar has scored centuries against all the teams.
Saeed Anwar was not only a graceful stroke player, he was also a gentleman on the field- a trait sadly lacking among cricketers. The only time he showed aggression was during batting. The death of his daughter in 2001 shook him badly and he took a break from cricket. He never fully recovered from the loss and announced his retirement in 2003.
