In the World cup tournaments organized so far, Quarter Finals were organized only in the 1996 Cricket World Cup. 2 of the quarter finals of 1996 cricket world cup were played in India (in Bangalore and Chennai) and the other 2 in Pakistan (Karachi and Faisalabad). The 6th World cup cricket was organized in India and Pakistan jointly.
1st Quarter Final of Cricket World Cup 1996-England cricket team vs. Sri lankan cricket team
- Played at Faisalabad on March 9, 1996.
- England scored 235/8. Sri Lanka scored 236/5.
- Sri Lanka won by 5 wickets, with 56 balls remaining.
- Sanath Jayasuriya of Srilanka scored 82 runs and was declared Man of the match.
2nd Quarter Final of Cricket World Cup 1996-Indian cricket team vs. Pakistan cricket team:
- Played at Bangalore on March 9, 1996.
- India scored 287/8. Pakistan scored 248/9.
- India won by 39 runs. Navjot Singh Sidhu was declared man of the match for his 93 runs.
3rd Quarter Final of Cricket World Cup 1996-South Africa cricket team Vs. West Indian cricket team
- Played at Karachi on March 11,1996.
- West Indies won by 19 runs. West Indies scored 264/8 while South African cricket team could only score 245 runs. RA Harper took 4 wickets. BC Lara was declared man of the match for his 111 runs.
4th Quarter Final of Cricket World Cup 1996-Australian cricket team vs. New Zealand cricket team:
- Played at Chennai on March 11, 1996.
- New Zealand scored 286/9. Australia scored 289/4 in 47.5 overs. Australia won by 6 wickets with 13 balls remaining. C Harris scored 130 and L K German scored 89 runs.
- From Australian batting line up, Mark Waugh scored a century. He scored 110 runs. Steve Waugh scored 59 runs. Mark Waugh was declared man of the match.
