Those were good old days when World Cup Cricket tournaments used to be so full of glamour. There were many players who were known for their masculine style and impressive personalities. Is it that the viewers and sports fan have changed their taste? Or is it a fact that we actually do not have hottest players in Cricket World Cup 2011 who have fan following not only because of how good they are in the sport they play, but also because of their looks? Yes women! the heartbeat of yours, Bret Lee surely is in our list.

However looking back in cricket history, one can pick some of the Cricket players who were real style icons. No wonder many of them got a lot of offers to work in Movies! Taking it up from the 1975 world cup, even if the killer looks were missing, we had players like Vivian Richards whose sexy reverse sweep no one can forget. In the years to come, Imran Khan was considered to be the king as far as glamour in Cricket was concerned. In 1979 World Cup Cricket, Pakistani team had stylish and hottest cricket players like Majid Khan, Mohsin Hassan Khan, Wasim Hassan Raja and there were stylish batsmen like Sunil Gawaskar who had an added attraction.

By the time the third world cup was played, World cup Cricket 1983, Imran Khan became the heart throb of millions and millions of cricket fans from all across the globe. He was known as an icon of masculinity and style in his youth. In 1983, it was not only Imran Khan, but players like Ravi Shastri, Holding, Allen Border, Ramiz Raja, David Gower and Richard Headley were considered hot players in cricket. 1987 world cup cricket presented Steve Waugh to the world. Steve Waugh along with Wasim Akram, Courtney Walsh and Martin Crowe became the heart throbs. Imran Khan was still considered to be the hottest player though. 1992 cricket world cup was unique in the sense that it was the first world cup which was played in colored kit.

A lot of cricketers looked hot in the true sense as the colored atmosphere added to glamour. Saeed anwar, Ramiz Raja, Martin Crowe, Steve Waugh, Kepler Wessels, Ian Botham, Anil Kumble, Aaqib Javed, Allen Donald, Andy Flower, and Wasim Akram were considered to be the hottest players in Cricket. 1992 cricket world cup was unique and important in the sense that a lot of stylish and hot all rounders in cricket resigned from cricket right after this world cup. The great names include Martin Crowe, Kepler Wessels, Imran Khan, Ravi Shastri, Allen Border, Vivian Richards, Graham Gooch and Houston. In 1996 world cup cricket, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis were the absolute hot players in the world of cricket. Sachin Tendulkar, Steve Waugh, Hansie Cronje, Alec Stewart, Gary Kirsten, and Bevan were considered to be real hot cricket players. In 1999 Glenn McGrath and Michael Bevan were the star hottest players of the cricket world cup. In 2003 Wasim Akram, Glenn McGrath, Ricky Ponting, Shoaib Akhtar, Bret Lee, Rahul Dravid, Saurav Ganguly, Stephen Fleming, Shaun Pollock and Brian Lara were considered to be the hot players of cricket.

World cup cricket 2007 saw Ricky Ponting at his best. Graeme Smith, Irfan Pathan and few other names were also considered as hottest players of cricket. With such big names in the history of cricket who were considered as hottest players in the history of cricket, the cricket squads who are going to compete for the world cup cricket 2011 seem to lack that quality. Shahid Afridi and Misbah ul Haq are the hottest cricket players from Pakistan.

M.S. Dhoni is considered to be hot. We can add a couple of other names to this list too, but though this world cup has bowling and batting stars, the so loved glamour aspect is missing from the game this time around. Lets see who can get the attention of cricket fans by playing brilliantly!

ICC Cricket World Cup: Best All-rounders World Cup Wise

ICC Cricket World Cups are organized every four years.  Cricket World Cup is still the most prestigious One Day International tournament. Importance of all rounders cannot be denied as they play important role in the victory of their teams.  There is no clear-cut prerequisite for a cricketer to be deemed as an all-rounder. However, the conventional criterion for an indisputable all-rounder is someone whose batting and bowling proficiency would aid his team to win a match. ICC Cricket World Cup has also seen some great performances by all rounders. Although the concept of an all-rounder was there since the early days of cricket, this position was solemnly acknowledged during 1983 Cricket World Cup once Mohinder Amarnath, Kapel Dev and Imran Khan changed the face of cricket by their outstanding bowling and batting capabilities. Though it’s difficult to report the best all rounders for 1975 and 1979 Cricket World Cup due to lack of availability of statistics, following is the list of world cup wise best all-rounders of Cricket World Cup.

In the midst of no cricketing events in Pakistan due to security concerns by ICC and team’s in-house rifts and spot fixing issues, Pakistan’s cricket team does not seem all geared up for the forthcoming 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup. Although the spot fixing case loomed during the recent T20 Series between New Zealand and Pakistan in New Zealand where Pakistan lost the series by 2-1, hopes still spring that the team will soon come out from troubled waters and go with their head high in World Cup. A lot of Pakistani cricketers are among the best in the world. Imran Khan is probably the greatest all rounder from Pakistan Cricket. He is considered as one of the top few all rounders of Test Cricket ever.

To keep a pinch of interest for high spirited Pakistan Cricket fans, our Dream Team for Pakistan is as follows which comprises of the top players Pakistan has ever produced.

  • Saeed Anwar (Opening batsman)
  • Aamir Sohail (Opening batsman)
  • Inzamam ul Haq (Top Order Batsman)
  • Javed Miandad (Middle Order Batsman)
  • Zaheer Abbas (Middle Order Batsman)
  • Moin Khan (Wicketkeeper/Batsman)
  • Imran Khan (Fast Bowler/ all rounder)
  • Waseem Akram (Fast Bowler/all rounder)

ICC World T20: Best Partnerships World Cup Wise

The importance of partnerships in a cricket match cannot be ruled out. The best example in this regard is 1992 Cricket World Cup final where Pakistan batting first was in troubled waters due to the fall of early wickets but an outstanding partnership between skipper Imran Khan and sweep shot King Javed Miandad led Pakistan to win the World Cup against England.

Partnerships at the crease have their own significance not only in Test cricket and ODIs but even in T20 game. Looking at the best partnerships at the 2007 ICC World T20, Chris Gayle and DS Smith’s match winning first wicket partnership of 145 runs for West Indies did not do any wonders for them. With the fall of first wicket, West Indies batting line fell like a pack of cards against South Africa at Johannesburg.

During 2009 ICC World T20, most runs partnership record is held by Tilikaratne Dilshan and Sanath Jayasurya of Srilanka who made first wicket partnership record of 124 runs against West Indies.

Mahela jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara holds the second wicket partnership record of 166 runs against West Indies during 2010 ICC World T20.

T20 Cricket is fun and thrill. People enjoy it a lot as T20 is the shortest version of this sport.

Best all-rounders to date: ICC Cricket World Cup

He is none other than Imran Khan who stands tall amongst the top quartet of all-rounders like Sir Garry Sobers, Kapel Dev, and Ian Botham. Imran Khan is the all time favourite all rounder on the back of best performance with the bat and ball in World Cups. His batting average in Cricket World Cup is approximately 28 runs per match whereas his bowling figures are tremendous with an average of 1.79 wickets per game. Although Lance Klusener of South Africa is the only nearest contender for the position of best all rounder in Cricket World Cup,  Imran Khan has taken 1.5 times more wickets than him. Not only is that, Imran’s runs scoring average better than Klusener as there were no fielding restrictions during the old days of cricket. Last but not the least; Imran Khan is the winning skipper all-rounder of the 1992 Benson & Hedges Cricket World Cup played in Australia where under his captaincy Pakistan lofted the World Cup.

Although since Imran Khan and his team have lifted the 1992 Cricket World Cup trophy there have been many new all rounders who played well, no one else has ever matched Imran Khan’s cricketing skills. He was brilliant with his bat and lethal with ball in World Cup Cricket matches.
