Africa remained fortunate to host the eight Cricket World Cup 2003 (ICC Cricket World Cup 2003) as the tournament was played in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya from February 9, 2003 to March 24, 2003. Fourteen teams participated which include Australia, India, Zimbabwe, England, Pakistan, Netherlands, Namibia from Pool A and Srilanka, Kenya, New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies, Canada and Bangladesh from Pool B. The tournament followed the format of Super-Six in order to qualify for the semi finals and then final.

Australia dazzled throughout the tournament and won the final by convincing 125 runs, snatching the hopes of India to lift the trophy back home. Cricket World Cup 1983 (Prudential Cup 1983) was the third consecutive for England as a host where India won laurels by clutching the first World Cup trophy to the Sub Continent.
