Semi Finals and Final-Cricket World Cup 1983

The third Cricket World Cup was played in 1983 in England. England, Pakistan, India and West Indies qualified for the semifinals in Cricket World Cup 1983. Like the first two world cups, in this world cup cricket all innings were of 60 overs.

1^st Semi final Cricket World Cup 1983:

1. The first semi-final of 1983 Cricket World Cup was played on 22^nd June, 1983. England faced Indian cricket team in this first semi final.
2. English cricket team scored 213 runs. G Fowler scored 33 runs. CJ Tavore scored 32.
3. RMH Binny and M Amarnath took 2 wickets each while Kapil Dev took 3 wickets for Indian cricket side.
4. Indian cricket team scored 217 runs and won the match by 6 wickets.
5. Yashpal Sharma scored 61 runs and SM Patil scored 51.
6. M Amarnath of Indian cricket team was declared Man of the Match in the first semi-final of 1983 Cricket World Cup.

2^nd Semifinal: Cricket World Cup 1983:

1. The second semi-final of 1983 Cricket World Cup was played on 22^nd June, 1983. Pakistan cricket team faced West Indies in the semi final of third Cricket World Cup.
2. Pakistan cricket team scored 184 runs. Mohsin Khan scored 70. MD Marshall took 3 wickets for West Indian cricket team.
3. West Indies scored 188. IVA Richards scored 80 and HA Gomes scored 50.

The final of 1983 Cricket World Cup was played between West Indies and Indian cricket team. Some of the facts about 1983 Cricket World Cup final are:

• The final of 1983 Cricket World Cup was played on 25 June, 1983.
• Indian cricket team scored 183 runs in total. K Srikanth scored 38, M Amarnath scored 26 and SM Patil scored 27 runs.

ICC Cricket World Cup history-Quarter Finals

In the World cup tournaments organized so far, Quarter Finals were organized only in the 1996 Cricket World Cup. 2 of the quarter finals of 1996 cricket world cup were played in India (in Bangalore and Chennai) and the other 2 in Pakistan (Karachi and Faisalabad). The 6^th World cup cricket was organized in India and Pakistan jointly.

1^st Quarter Final of Cricket World Cup 1996-England cricket team vs. Sri lankan cricket team

1. Played at Faisalabad on March 9, 1996.
2. England scored 235/8. Sri Lanka scored 236/5.
3. Sri Lanka won by 5 wickets, with 56 balls remaining.
4. Sanath Jayasuriya of Srilanka scored 82 runs and was declared Man of the match.

2^nd Quarter Final of Cricket World Cup 1996-Indian cricket team vs. Pakistan cricket team:

• Played at Bangalore on March 9, 1996.
• India scored 287/8. Pakistan scored 248/9.
• India won by 39 runs. Navjot Singh Sidhu was declared man of the match for his 93 runs.

3^rd Quarter Final of Cricket World Cup 1996-South Africa cricket team Vs. West Indian cricket team

1. Played at Karachi on March 11,1996.
2. West Indies won by 19 runs. West Indies scored 264/8 while South African cricket team could only score 245 runs. RA Harper took 4 wickets. BC Lara was declared man of the match for his 111 runs.

4^th Quarter Final of Cricket World Cup 1996-Australian cricket team vs. New Zealand cricket team:

• Played at Chennai on March 11, 1996.
• New Zealand scored 286/9. Australia scored 289/4 in 47.5 overs. Australia won by 6 wickets with 13 balls remaining. C Harris scored 130 and L K German scored 89 runs.
• From Australian batting line up, Mark Waugh scored a century. He scored 110 runs. Steve Waugh scored 59 runs. Mark Waugh was declared man of the match.

Famous cricket player of India: Yuvraj Singh

• Yuvraj Singh joined the Indian cricket team squad in the year 2000 and made his first test debut in 2003 against the New Zealand side.
• He started off with domestic cricket and later joined the international team. Yuvraj Singh played in the 2003 ICC world cup which was his debut world cup and he performed quite impressively by scoring a couple of centuries against Australia, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe cricket teams
• Yuvraj Singh has played 250 ODI’s up till now and has made 7345 runs consisting of 12 centuries and 43 fifties. His top score is 139 of 119 balls against the Aussies.
• He has been able to score a fifty in almost every match, which is pretty evident from his batting average (37.50).
• Yuvraj Singh possesses some bowling skill too which has given him 82 wickets with 4/6 runs being his bestest figures ever.
• He is famous for his partnership with Mohammad Kaif against the West Indian cricket team which eventually led them to victory in the round robin league.
• Yuvraj Singh also is the fastest batsman to score a fifty of just 12 balls by hitting 6 sixes in an over against England and is the leading batsman in context of strike rate.
• Yuvraj singh is more of an asset to the Indian cricket side and he has played several match winning knocks for India.

Cricket records: Pakistan vs India (Test-ODI-T20)

After the separation of India and Pakistan in 1947, the first test match played by the Pakistan cricket team against India in Delhi was from 16-18 October 1952 and this series was won by the Indian cricket team. After that, 10 more test matches were played which were drawn. Until now 59 test matches have been played between these two cricket teams out of which 12 were claimed by Pakistan cricket team and 9 by Indian cricket team and 32 matches were drawn and no match was abandoned.

Test cricket records: Pakistan cricket team versus Indian cricket team

• The Pakistan cricket team has a record of the highest inning score of 699 runs for a loss of 5 wickets in Qadafi stadium Lahore against the Indian cricket team in 1989.
• The Indian cricket team has a record of the lowest inning score against Pakistan with a score of 106 all out in Luckhnow in 1952.
• Imran Khan of the Pakistan cricket team has a record for the highest total series wickets with 98 wickets against the Indian cricket team.
• Imran Khan of the Pakistan cricket team also has a record for the best bowling figures in an inning with 8 wickets of just 60 runs in 1982 in Karachi.
• Virender Sehwag of the Indian cricket team has a record for the highest individual score of 309 in 2004.

The rivalry between Pakistan and India started in 1947 after the separation of the two countries and this also affected the history of cricket  matches between both the cricket teams of India and Pakistan. The first one day international match between India and Pakistan was played in 1978 in Quetta which the Pakistan cricket team won by 4 wickets. Until now, 124 Odi’s have been played between Pakistan and India cricket teams out of which 46 matches were won by the Indian cricket team and 69 were won by the Pakistani cricket team; 9 matches showed no results and 5 matches were abandoned.

ODI cricket records: Pakistan cricket team versus Indian cricket team

• In 1997, Saeed Anwar, a famous Pakistani cricket player, struck 194 runs against India in Chennai.
• In the final of wills trophy, Sharjah Aqib Javeed had a hat rick against India with the best bowling statistics of 7 wickets for 37 runs in 10 overs.
• In April 2005, Shahid Afridi, a superb player of the Pakistan cricket team, made 100 of 45 balls against India.
• The Pakistan cricket team has a record for the highest total of 322 runs against the Indian cricket team in 2007.
• The Pakistan cricket team has a record of the biggest victory margin of 152 runs against India in Delhi in 2005.

After the introduction of one day international matches, 20 over matches were also introduced with a name of T20.  Four T20 matches had been played between the Pakistan cricket team and the Indian cricket team and out of these 4 matches, 1 match was won by Pakistan, 2 matches were won by India, and 1 match was a drawn. The drawn match decision was made on “bowl-out” criteria as a result of which India won that “ball-out” by 3-0. T20 cricket records: Pakistan cricket team versus Indian cricket team

• Gautam Gambhir of the Indian cricket team has a record of the highest score of 75 against Pakistan in a T20 match.
• The first T20 match between these two teams was a draw and a “ball-out” decision was carried out as a result of which India won that “ball-out” decision.
• The Indian cricket team also has a record of wining the twenty twenty match against Pakistan with the highest wickets of 9 on hand.
• Misbah-ul-haq of the Pakistan cricket team has a record of the highest average rate of 38 in T20 matches.
