The third Cricket World Cup was played in 1983 in England. England, Pakistan, India and West Indies qualified for the semifinals in Cricket World Cup 1983. Like the first two world cups, in this world cup cricket all innings were of 60 overs.

- The first semi-final of 1983 Cricket World Cup was played on 22nd June, 1983. England faced Indian cricket team in this first semi final.
- English cricket team scored 213 runs. G Fowler scored 33 runs. CJ Tavore scored 32.
- RMH Binny and M Amarnath took 2 wickets each while Kapil Dev took 3 wickets for Indian cricket side.

In the World cup tournaments organized so far, Quarter Finals were organized only in the 1996 Cricket World Cup. 2 of the quarter finals of 1996 cricket world cup were played in India (in Bangalore and Chennai) and the other 2 in Pakistan (Karachi and Faisalabad). The 6th World cup cricket was organized in India and Pakistan jointly.
1st Quarter Final of Cricket World Cup 1996-England cricket team vs. Sri lankan cricket team
- Played at Faisalabad on March 9, 1996.
- England scored 235/8. Sri Lanka scored 236/5.
- Sri Lanka won by 5 wickets, with 56 balls remaining.
- Sanath Jayasuriya of Srilanka scored 82 runs and was declared Man of the match.

- Yuvraj Singh joined the Indian cricket team squad in the year 2000 and made his first test debut in 2003 against the New Zealand side.
- He started off with domestic cricket and later joined the international team. Yuvraj Singh played in the 2003 ICC world cup which was his debut world cup and he performed quite impressively by scoring a couple of centuries against Australia, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe cricket teams
- Yuvraj Singh has played 250 ODI’s up till now and has made 7345 runs consisting of 12 centuries and 43 fifties. His top score is 139 of 119 balls against the Aussies.
- He has been able to score a fifty in almost every match, which is pretty evident from his batting average (37.50).
- Yuvraj Singh possesses some bowling skill too which has given him 82 wickets with 4/6 runs being his bestest figures ever.
- He is famous for his partnership with Mohammad Kaif against the West Indian cricket team which eventually led them to victory in the round robin league.

After the separation of India and Pakistan in 1947, the first test match played by the Pakistan cricket team against India in Delhi was from 16-18 October 1952 and this series was won by the Indian cricket team. After that, 10 more test matches were played which were drawn. Until now 59 test matches have been played between these two cricket teams out of which 12 were claimed by Pakistan cricket team and 9 by Indian cricket team and 32 matches were drawn and no match was abandoned.
Test cricket records: Pakistan cricket team versus Indian cricket team
- The Pakistan cricket team has a record of the highest inning score of 699 runs for a loss of 5 wickets in Qadafi stadium Lahore against the Indian cricket team in 1989.
- The Indian cricket team has a record of the lowest inning score against Pakistan with a score of 106 all out in Luckhnow in 1952.
- Imran Khan of the Pakistan cricket team has a record for the highest total series wickets with 98 wickets against the Indian cricket team.

The rivalry between Pakistan and India started in 1947 after the separation of the two countries and this also affected the history of cricket matches between both the cricket teams of India and Pakistan.
