Gillespie, an Australian cricketer who played for the Australian team at an International level in Tests and ODIs, is known for his primary style as a right-arm fast-medium bowler and a capable batsman of the lower-order.
It was in 1996 that Gillespie made his test debut against West Indian cricket team which was followed with his ODI debut against Sri Lanka. When it came to his batting, Gillespie acquired a total of 259 wickets in 71 test innings at an average of 26.13 which made him the 6th highest wicket-taker having given the 14th best bowling average. After the series of the Ashes, he took 40 wickets in the Pura Cup Season during 2005-6 for South Australia. He proved to be the 4th highest wicket taker in the tournament. Gillespie exhibited an even stronger performance against Victoria wherein he took 7/35.
When it came to Gillespie’s batting, he acquired a test score of 201 not out at an average of 18.73. He is considered to be only Test cricket player who had a batting average less than 20 yet was still able to accomplish 200 runs in the match. He was not an easy batsman to sack and his high ODI score of 44 not out with a superb strike rate of 78.53 while averaging 12.56 is an evidence of it! In 2006, Gillespie set a world record against Bangladesh for the highest individual score which was referred as his first-class century.
In 2010, Gillespie became a coach in Zimbabwe and in April 2011, was also appointed as IPL’s team of Kings XI Punjab as their bowling coach.

Damien Martyn is a former Australian cricket player who played the role of a spearhead in the batting arena so extravagantly that his unrivalled demeanor is reminisced even today. He played as a right-handed batsman and being a recognized sportsman in the field, who at times made some very impressive run-outs, kept cricket at 1stclass level sporadically.
In was not until 2004 that he was named Man of the Series as he played against Indian cricket team and defeated the team in a period of more than 3 decades. After entering the cricket team in 1990, Martyn made his debut in the following season wherein he scored 822 runs at 51.37 which helped him continue to make his test debut in 1992 against West Indies, batting in the middle-order, scoring 36 and 154. In 1994-94, Martyn was bestowed with the honor of captaincy for Western Australian team and Australia A in the ODI International Tournament. Given the credit to his performance in the Ashes in 2001, he was given the title of Wisden Cricketer of the Year.
In the entire career of Damien Richard Martyn, his best form was seen in March 2004, when he scored some very vital centuries and contributed Australia to a 3-0 series against Sri Lankan cricket team. This was followed with the title of Man of the Series in India by making two centuries in three innings; another two centuries against Pakistan and another against New Zealand, Martyn emerged as a player with 1608 runs at an average score of 61.84 inclusive of 7 centuries in a period of 12 months.
Martyn’s retirement from the domestic and international cricket was surely a surprise for all back in December 2006. He rejoined the IPL in 2008 which further followed with his signing for the IPL in 2010.
Famous cricket player of India: Mahendra Singh Dhoni

- Famously known as the Pepsi Youth icon, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is also the most successful captain of the Indian cricket team and has brought home many trophy’s under his captaincy.
- Mahendra made his debut in 2004 and had played 176 matches up till now.
- Dhoni scored 5803 runs which include 7 centuries and 37 fifties with 183 (not out) being his best. Not to forget Dhoni is the only batsman these days to have a batting average of almost 50 (49.17).
- Dhoni not only is a consistent batsman but is an extra ordinary wicket keeper as well, and has taken 173 catches and has been the reason for 56 stumpings in just 173 matches.
- Dhoni has played once in an ICC world cup i.e. 2007. There is no denying the fact that he performed well and above average but the fact that the Indian side couldn’t go till the super 8 round, conceals his performance.
- He has been awarded the ICC player of the year twice in a row (2008 and 2009) and under his leadership the Indian cricket team brought home the T-twenty world cup of 2007 and the CB series of 2008. He was also the captain of the winning team of the IPL.
- With his spectacular performance in the practice match against NZ, and past match records the Indians are quite confident that he is in his best form and will certainly keep the world cup trophy in the country.
Famous cricket player of India: Yusuf Pathan

- Yusuf Pathan a strong and aggressive batsman of the Indian cricket team with more than average off break skills joined the international cricket team in 2008.
- He is yet to perform in an ICC world cup but will hopefully be in the Indian side in the 2011 world cup matches.
- His extra ordinary quick batting has brought him to the international squad. (100 of 37 balls in the IPL). He hasn’t played in a test match as yet.
- However Yusuf Pathan has played 43 One Day matches and has scored 692 runs consisting of 2 centuries and 3 half with 123* being his highest in an innings.
- As mentioned he has been averagely fair with the ball by taking 17 wickets (668 balls) with 3/49 being his best figures.
- Yusuf Pathan was dropped off from the Indian cricket team for a small period for his poor performance but he regained his place by showing his brilliant skills in domestic cricket.
- Yusuf Pathan is said to be the back bone of the middle order, and he comes into play when the Indian side has lost all its top order players. And his aggressive batting comes in very handy when there is either a huge target to chase or to put up.

India truly has the passion for this format of the game, which can be seen in their style of playing. Their first win of the T20 World Cup showed some remarkable performances.
But slowly the fielding performances were deteriorating and this could be because of the ongoing IPL which lasted two months. This could have made them lazy and complacent. T20 is such that one wrong ball can cause the entire match to the team. Indian players need to be more alert and attentive because of this.
