It was a once in life time chance and Pakistan ruled the Cricket World Cup 1992 by defeating England by 22 runs at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Australia. The sturdy performance of Javed Miandad and skipper Imran Khan with bat and magical bowling of Waseem Akram and Aqib Javed turned tables in favor of Pakistan. Waseem Akram was declared ‘Man of the Match.’ It was a dream come true for Pakistanis. Pakistan came from the down and out situation under Imran Khan’s captaincy to claim the title.
Australia and New Zealand hosted the fifth Cricket World Cup (Benson and Hedges World CUP 1992) from February 22, 1992 to March 25, 1992. Colored Kits and white balls were introduced alongwith black sightscreens. Whereas, several world cup matches were played under the floodlights. In case of rain affected matches, the rules were changed for the calculating of target score for the chasing batting line, which remained controversial throughout the tournament especially the semi final played between South Africa and England where South Africa despite good scoring faced sudden death to this rule and England marched into the final. South Africa was allowed to play its first World Cup after the Apartheid. Nine countries participated which include Australia, India, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Zimbabwe, West Indies Pakistan and Sri Lanka
How to play a reverse sweep?
by MairaS on December 19, 2010
in Types of balls
Although it is rarely uses, a reverse sweep is a shot that can be helpful in ticking the score board by making runs. For that matter the judgement of the batsman should be good and he should be able read the line and length of the ball effectively. Reverse sweep is usually played on slower balls usually on spin bowling and any misjudgement can lead to fall of wicket which can either be Leg Before Wicket (LBW) or bowled out. To play a sweep shot, the front foot should be moved as far down the wicket as much as possible while bending both the knees in unison. Furthermore, the back knee should touch the ground to provide a strong support to the overall posture of the batsman. Then the bat should be brought down from the offside and hit the ball towards the leg side. The emphasis should be playing the shot in front of the square leg or behind square leg. Playing a reverse sweep is not easy as it requires a lot of experience and practice. Javed Miandad of Pakistan is considered to be the King of Reverse Sweep. Vivian Richards from West Indies is also considered as one of the best in this regard.

Top Ten Captains of Pakistan in T20 Cricket
Pakistan’s first ever Twenty-20 captain was Shoaib Malik. He, along with being a good captain, contributed to his batting and bowling as well. When in the mood, Pakistan is dominating and energetic.
Then came Younis Khan, who was soft and motivating and knew how to keep his cricketing side together. The second World Cup was won under his captaincy.
Shahid Afridi with the bat was devastating. The thoughts brought by his captaincy ignited the team. He brings a lot of positivity on the field, and now he has passed it on to his fellow teammates. He proves to be a good captain with the way he gels around with all the members of his team.

Top Ten Catchers / Fielders of Pakistan in Test Cricket
Test Cricket requires the players to have the ability and commitment to it and for those who cannot handle it, T20 or ODIs are the safest to play.
Pakistan has been excellent in the batting and the bowling department but in the last few matches their fielding has been incompetent. Unity is going to be their way of reaching the top.
Pakistan needs to appoint a fielding coach because the methods they have been using are outdated, as was noted in the Australian Tour. This will help them overcome their fielding disabilities.
There are some wonderful players in the Pakistan Test Cricket team. All they need to do is to include a little more hard work and dedication. Here are top ten fielders of Pakistan in test cricket:
1. Javed Miandad

Top Ten Catchers / Fielders of Pakistan in ODI Cricket
At the One Day Internationals, Pakistan has been performing very well and has been giving tough competition to its opponents. Their major cause of worry is their fielding which has not been up to the mark, causing the opponents to score well.
Fielding is a very important aspect of the game and needs to be enjoyed thoroughly by the players. To be a competent player, one needs to be passionate about it or else the drowsiness will show. Also, lack of communication among the players needs to be sorted out, so that they can understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
Today, certain ground fielding records need to be set, so that the over all team performance can be accepted and understood. Here are the top 10 fielders of Pakistan in ODI:
1. Inzamam-ul-Haq

Top Ten Catchers / Fielders of Pakistan in T20 Cricket
Twenty 20 cricket is not meant for latecomers. You need to be impeccable in your fielding because otherwise the opposition team will score all the required runs which, again, is easy thanks to the fielding restrictions present in Twenty 20 Cricket.
The twenty 20 wins for Pakistan have been a huge morale booster for them, in spite of the consistent test cricket losses.
The T20 was important for Pakistan as they had to show the skill which they had lacked in the last few international cricket matches.
For Pakistan, fielding has been their weakest point, because of which they need to work very hard on it so that they are able to face the spinners of Australia, which is an exceptionally good team. And a lot of dedication will be required due to the restrictions on the T20 field.
Top ten catchers/fielders of Pakistan in T20 are:
1. Shoaib Malik
2. Younis Khan
3. Shahid Afridi
4. Umar Akmal
5. Umar Gul
6. Misbah-ul-Haq
7. Mohammad Hafeez
