- The opening left handed batsman for Pakistan cricket team, Saeed Anwar made his debut in one day international matches in 1989 against West Indies.
- The best opening pair consisted of him along with Amir Sohail.
- Saeed Anwar’s performance was unmatchable and was a very dangerous player in his era, where all the Indian bowlers were scared to bowl to him after his 194 against them. ( the highest by him in an innings)
- He played 247 matches and scored 8,824 runs with 20 centuries and 43 half.
- Being a pure batsman he was not given the ball much, however he still has 6 wickets to his name.
- Saeed Anwar played his part in 3 ICC cricket world cups with remarkable performances.
- He captained the Pakistani side for sometime too and wasn’t very successful. Saeed Anwar’s retirement (2003) came a bit unexpected which was mainly due to the death of his young daughter, which then led him towards the preaching of Islam.
- The reason for his inconsistency in the squad was basically because of the tragic event that happened to him.
- His batting is still missed when the Pakistani openers tend to show irresponsible cricket in the opening overs of the game.
