Top ten catchers/fielders of Sri Lanka in T20

Sri Lanka cricket team has shown exceptional performance in the twenty-20 world cup but they never let it go to their head. Since Sri Lanka has a lot of older players in their team who have all played a lot of international cricket, all the experience gained will help them in playing the matches more effectively.

Sri Lanka has been good with the bat as well as the ball but the ground fielding is still questioned, even though it is up to the mark with all the experienced players.

Sri Lanka needs more vigilant players as though the ageing players provide experience, but do nothing much for the fielding side which makes them a little weak, which can be avoided. The best fielders of Sri Lanka cricket team in 20-20 cricket are:

1. SL Malinga
2. J Mubarak
3. DPMD Jayawardene
4. TM Dilshan
5. CK Kapugedera
6. AD Mathews
7. KMDN Kulasekara
8. LPC Silva
9. K Weeraratne
10. ST Jayasuriya

Top ten Catchers in Twenty-20

20Twenty, also known as T20, is the latest concept in the game of cricket. It is the shortest variant and an enhancement of One Day Internationals. This format of the game makes it very unpredictable.
Fielding does have its own set of restrictions due to the limited over and the way the match goes on. A few balls can turn the game around completely.

T20 has been a successful concept because of the excitement attached to the game. But from a fielder’s perspective, it is not the best platform to showcase their abilities.

The fact that the match lasts for a total of 3.5 hours attracts a lot of people towards it.

Here is the list of the best ten catches in T20:

1. A.B. de Villiers
2. L.R.P.L. Taylor
3. M.E.K. Hussey
4. G.C. Smith
5. D.J. Hussey
6. Shoaib Malik
7. D.A. Warner
8. S.C.G. Broad
9. M.J. Clarke
10. S.P.D. Smith

Boom Boom Afridi – Leading the team…!?

Boy, oh boy! What an amazing summer it is going to be for Pakistan as Boom Boom Afridi is going to lead the team in ODI’s, T20 and guess what? In test cricket, TOO! It is a little too much to absorb, isnt it? But whatever your reaction is, the unpredictable and the busiest player of the cricket world is going to lead the team everywhere throughout the year, unless changes made!

‘Fidi Boy’ has been welcomed grandly to lead the summer packed cricket season by the Pakistani cricket fans. As far as the ODI and T20 are concerned, no reservations have been shown, but few of the critics have expressed their resentment over the selection of Afridi for test cricket. Boom Boom has not been much into test cricket so it would be a new experience for him. But you never know, as the man shares a history of being ‘VERY’ unpredictable. Maybe that’s a trait of Men in Green, but Afridi is particularly this sort.

So welcome the new leader who is going to tame our perceptions, expectations and emotions for the cricket passion. Are you ready to support him?

20Twenty – Globalized

Cricket seems no more the way it was. Who would have thought that a 20 overs cricket match with no proverbial game plan would become the life blood of cricket tournaments. The rapid rise and enthusiasm for Twenty20 cricket around the world simply convinced ICC to rank it as official. It seemed that the cricket freaks were pining for the Twenty20 world cup format and their prayers were answered soon when the first Twenty20 world cup was arranged in 2007. The inaugural Twenty20 World Cup was arranged in South Africa in September. The tournament was a complete success as it offered thrill, unpredictable games, thrashing hits and of course a game that ended in a matter of a couple of hours. The first Twenty20 World Cup became more sizzling as the arch old rivals Pakistan and India reached the final. India claimed the win by beating Pakistan by 5 runs. The cup was owned by Asians!

The next Twenty20 event was arranged in June, 2009 in England. It became the biggest tournament of the ICC as millions of people watched it around the world. The event was a success again and some very surprising results came out. One of the most distasteful matches was a fixture between England and Netherlands where England lost on their home ground. It left a bad taste in the mouths of the English spectators but still the event was a big success. Pakistan moved up from the runner’s up positioned when they reached the final and defeated Sri Lanka very comprehensively. The cup was owned by Asians again!

After a year, Twenty20 World Cup 2010 is again being played in the West Indies. The same sensation and thrill has been enjoyed this time and now the event has reached its final destination. Yes! This time the final teams are Australia and England, the Twenty20 ‘Ashes’ shall be facing each other on yet another turf.

This time the Asians won’t own the trophy as Twenty20 has been globalized!!!

So enjoy the globalization and cheer the favourites!
