Top Ten Pace Bowlers in Test Cricket from Zimbabwe
There are very few fast bowlers in the list of Zimbabwe’s top ten pace bowlers from Test cricket. From the beginning, their medium pace bowlers have held superiority over changing their speed during the deliveries and moving the ball on both sides as well. Their key to success is perfect line and accurate length to keep the batsman struggling for runs. They never try to bowl different deliveries to test the ability of batsmen. Heath Streak is again on the top in the list of top ten pace bowlers in Test cricket from Zimbabwe. Although some of the players have already left cricket, many players are really young and can get the high mark in Test cricket due to their elite approach in the fields. Here is the list of best bowlers in test from Zimbabwe:
- HH Streak
- PA Strang
- RW Price
- HK Olonga
- BC Strang
- AM Blingnaut
- GJ Whittall
- M Mbangwa
- DH Brain
- EA Brandes
Top Ten Pace Bowlers in Test Cricket from New Zealand

Top Five Test Captains – Zimbabwe Cricket Team
Zimbabwe acquired the right to play Test matches in 1992. They played their first Test match against India. David Houghton was captain of that side. The next man to captain the side was Andy Flower who definitely makes it to the top five Test captains of Zimbabwe’s cricket team. The team only managed to win one Test match under his captaincy. However, he developed the team during that time.
The greatest Zimbabwean captain was Heath Streak who led the side to four Test victories during his four-year tenure as captain of the national side. He also managed to win a Test match against the Test giant India during this period. Other Zimbabwean captains had tough times leading the team. Tatenda Taibu faced the toughest circumstance of them all. Here is a complete list of the top five captains for Zimbabwe:
- Heath Streak
- Alistair Campbell
- Andy Flower
- David Houghton
- Stuart Carlisle
Top Ten ODI Captains – Zimbabwe Cricket Team
Zimbabwe made it into the Test cricket in the early 1990s. However, they played their first ODI almost a decade before playing Test cricket. They have a decent ODI record. A top ten list for ODI captains for Zimbabwe would definitely be topped by veteran Alistair Campbell. Andy Flower also led the team to some famous victories. Heath Streak, a solid performer for Zimbabwe, is another captain who will be remembered in the history of cricket for pulling out some amazing victories with a decidedly less-talented side.
Utseya would also get a place in the top ten list due to his exceptional handling of the side under difficult political circumstances. The team was facing both inward and outward political problems during his reign. However, he still managed to put on a decent show as a captain. Here is the list of ODI captains of Zimbabwe:
- Alistair Campbell
- Heath Streak
- Andy Flower
- Prosper Utseya
- Terry Duffin
- David Houghton
- Stuart Carlisle
- Tatenda Taibu
- Duncan Fletcher
- John Traicos
Top T20 Captains – Zimbabwe Cricket Team
T20 or 20-20 is a relatively newer form of the game where teams play for 40 overs in totals. One team bats for 20 overs and the other one for the remaining 20 overs. The game takes half a day to show the results.
Prosper Utseya is the only man to lead Zimbabwe to 20-20 international cricket. The Zimbabwean side has played seven 20-20 matches so far and has only managed to win two of them. They have lost four and one match did not produce any results. They have never tied a match so far.
The Zimbabwe side is still immature on the international scene. They started improving their cricket before political issues inside the country impeded their progress. The political situation in the country has been tumultuous and it has affected Zimbabwe’s cricket adversely. Their Test membership has been suspended and, at the moment, the team is not playing any form of cricket.

Top Ten Century Scorers of Zimbabwe in Test Cricket
Although Zimbabwe is one of the oldest teams that gained test status from ICC, it is now in forming a new pattern. Their earlier team was very good in performance and cut a good figure in cricket matches. A. Flower and G.W. Flower, brothers, were the main key players of that prior team and having 232 (not out) and 201 (not out), respectively. A. Flower made 27 test centuries and G.W. Flower made 15 test centuries. But the credit of highest score making in a single innings refers to D.L. Houghton (1992-1997); but as he played for a few years, hence got only four test centuries in 36 innings. Top ten centurions from Zimbabwean team in test matches are the following.
- A. Flower
- G.W. Flower
- G.J. Whittall
- D.L. Houghton
- M.W. Goodwin
- A.D.R. Campbell
- S.V. Carlisle
- H.H. Streak
- T. Taibu
- C.B. Wishart
Top Ten Century Scorers of Zimbabwe in ODI Cricket
Zimbabwean cricket team was quite well in ODI series earlier, although at present, it is lying with the class of a bit weaker teams; but players are trying to improve themselves a lot. The team consists lots of bright players and they had good career in ODI with several ODI centuries. This time, Flower brothers have been defeated by Campbell by achieving 7 centuries; whereas G.W. and A. Flower have 6 and 4 centuries, respectively. The total refers to A. Flower—6786 runs—but the highest best score refers to H. Masakadza (2001-2010) and it is 178 runs (not out); however, prior to him, it was 172 runs (not out) by Wishart (1996-2005). Therefore, the top ten centurions are the following.
- A.D.R. Campbell
- G.W. Flower
- A. Flower
- N.C. Johnson
- B.R.M. Taylor
- S.V. Carlisle
- H. Masakadza
- T. Taibu
- C.B. Wishart
- M.W. Goodwin
Top 3 Century Scorers of Zimbabwe in T20 Cricket
As we all know that 20-20 (or T20) is a kind of fastest form of modern cricket game and it is very difficult in sense of making a century in a single innings due to shortage of “Overs,” the 20-20 means each team will get only 20 Overs to bat while other team will make balling and fielding. At present, except B.B. McCullum (New Zealand) and S.K. Raina (India), no other players of any team have a 20-20 century, even the both mentioned players have single century of 116 (not out) and 101, respectively. Therefore, they are the two legends of 20-20 cricket tournaments so far until other players join them.nHowever, the following three players are doing well with their bating in 20-20 cricket of Zimbabwean cricket team.
- H. Masakadza
- C.J. Chibhabha
- B.R.M. Taylor

Zimbabwe Cricket Team – Profile
Profile for Zimbabwe team
Zimbabwe Cricket team is a team that has seldom shone in the world cricket with their performances. The team having less talent; can only challenge some teams in the World Cup. Their World Cup record is not much good. They have never gone far from first round. The only prospects of the team are their keeper Charles Coventry (who has the record of highest number of runs scored by an individual in one-day cricket), their captain Prosper Utseya, who can bat as well as bowl and some other players. Even though the team has such good perspectives in batting, they have very weak bowling attack that is not able to defend even big scores. Even though, Zimbabwe batting has shined in recent times, their bowling has failed to equal while defending the big scores.
The responsible factor for such a bad condition of Zimbabwe cricket team is the ongoing politics in the country that forced the good players to rebel from the cricket team. But, one cannot say anything about cricket. As the saying goes, “Cricket is by chance”. It is surely possible that Zimbabwe Cricket can bounce back from their current form in 2011 World Cup and can throw challenges to big teams just as did by India in 1983 and Sri Lanka in 1996.
