Cricket World cup records: Australia vs Kenyan cricket teams

  • The Kenyan cricket team commenced their world cup career in 1996 Cricket World Cup and has played in all world cups after that i.e. 4 in all.
  • Kenya came across the Australian cricket team just once in the 2003 Cricket World Cup and that too in the super six round.
  • The match was almost one sided as the Australian bowling line up restricted them to score just 174 runs by taking 8 wickets in 50 overs. ( Brett Lee 3 wickets for 14 runs in 8 overs)
  • The Kenyan bowling squad was successful in taking 5 wickets but was unable to slow down the run rate as the Australian cricket team reached the target in just 31.2 overs. (AY Karim took 3 wickets for just 7 runs in his 8.2 overs).
  • Top scorer of Australian cricket team was Adam Gilchrist, the then wicket keeper for the Australian team who stood on the crease when wickets were falling.
  • The Kenyan side is said to have been enhancing their performance in all aspects i.e. bowling, batting and fielding. But considering the Australian cricket team strength, their chances of winning are pretty low, also evident from the past record.
  • Australian cricket team has ruled the world for more than a decade. Kenya still being a new team needs a lot of experience before they can take on Australia to beat them.

In 2011 cricket world cup, Australia vs Kenya turned out to be an interesting encounter. Australia batted first and scored 324 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in total. It was a good total that Australia put on board. In response to this  324, Kenya also fought back well. They scored 264 for 6. Considering the fact that Australian cricket team had the best bowling attack in the cricket world cup, it was a good score which Kenya achieved. However, in the final outcome, Australia won the match by 60 runs. Although Kenya was still not able to beat Australia in cricket world cup, they put up a good fight.
