The fourth Cricket World Cup was played in 1987 in the sub-continent. England, Pakistan, India and Australia qualified for the semifinals in Cricket World Cup 1987. This was the first world cup cricket with 50 overs in an innings.

1st Semi final Cricket World Cup 1987:

  1. The first semi-final of 1987 Cricket World Cup was played on 4th November, 1987. Pakistan cricket team faced Australian cricket team in this first semi final.
  2. Australia scored 267 runs. DC Boon scored 65. MRJ Veletta scored 48 and DM Jones scored 38. Imran Khan took 3 wickets for Pakistan cricket team.
  3. Pakistan was all out for 249. Javed Miandad of Pakistan cricket team scored 70 and Imran Khan scored 58.
  4. CJ McDermott took five wickets and was declared Man of the Match of the first semi-final of 1987 Cricket World Cup.

2nd Semifinal Cricket World Cup 1987:

  1. The second semi-final of 1987 Cricket World Cup was played on 5th November, 1987. India faced English cricket team in the semi final of fourth Cricket World Cup.
  2. Graham Gooch scored 115 and MW Gatting scored 56 runs for English cricket team. Maninder Singh took 3 wickets for Indian cricket team. England scored 219 runs.
  3. England won by 35 runs. M Azharuddin scored 64 and N Kapil Dev scored 30. EE Henmings took 4 wickets and NA Foster took 3 wickets.
  4. GA Gooch was declared Man of the Match in the second semi-final of 1987 Cricket World Cup.
  5. The Final of 1987 Cricket World Cup was played between Australia and England.

Final-Cricket World Cup 1987  

The fourth World Cup of Cricket (1987) was the first world cup played outside England. It was organized in the sub continent, and the final was played between Australia and England.

  1. The final match of 1987 Cricket World Cup was played on 8th November, 1987.
  2. Australian cricket team scored 253 runs. DC Boon scored 75, MRJ Veletta 45 and Henmings took 2 wickets for England.
  3. England was all out for 246 runs. CWJ Athey scored 58 runs and AJ Lamb scored 45. MW Gatting scored 41 and GA Gooch scored 35. Steve Waugh and Allan Border took 2 wickets each for Australian cricket team.
  4. MW Gatting’s wicket was taken by Allen Border which proved to be the turning point of this match.
  5. Australia won by 7 runs and DC Boon was declared Man of the Match in 1987 Cricket world cup Final.

Till now, Australian cricket team has won four Cricket World Cup titles. Australia has been unbeaten since 1999 cricket world cup and their winning streak continued till 2007 Cricket World Cup. Overall, Australian cricket team can be considered as the most successful and consistent team when it comes to Cricket World Cup event.
